THE NEWSLETTER
Sketch Pad
Sketch Pad is a weekly newsletter for creatives by a creative. I’m an author currently writing nonfiction books & articles and fiction for kids, teens, and adults.
Sketch Pad is where I share weekly reflections and tips on navigating a creative life — whether that means helping you find time or inspiration to make your art, helping you learn how to navigate college as an artist, or helping you figure out how to make a living with your art.
There’s plenty of content for adults, especially parents. But the primary focus is on supporting young creators — especially teens and college students.
As a former creative kid — and now a creative adult raising another creative kid — I have a special passion for helping young creators pursue their interests. There’s so much I wish I’d done differently in pursuit of my own writing career. So today, I funnel all those “wish I had”s into helping other young creators.
This includes being a supportive, safe space and dishing out plenty of encouragement for living and creating from your most authentic self — so you can contribute your unique gifts to the world. I believe the world can always use more art, and the best art comes from your authentic truth — whatever that means for you!
Expect a weekly-ish post covering all aspects of a creative life. This includes a mashup of topics covering education, parenting, personal finance, and diversity & inclusion — as well as focused posts on boosting creativity, supporting young creators, and making your art. Additionally, Sketch Pad frequently dives into what it means to be human in this messy, beautiful world.
Also expect fun extras like recommendations for additional reading, links to fun and helpful resources, and any little thing I just can’t get enough of right now. And, of course, you’ll also get insider updates on my published writing, including articles and book releases.
Paid subscribers also get direct access to me, where they can ask me anything about navigating college, making their art, or making a living doing the work they love.
